On the Chocolatey Chocolate Cake thread you mentioned that you had made a nice and moist vegan chocolate cake and I wondered if I could have the recipe.

If it is one from the MN recipe page, please direct me to which one and I will be very grateful - I have a DD you is 5 tomorrow and she is allergic to dairy and egg so this would be a fab birthday cake for her.

Many Thanks.

There are a few on the internet, but haven't tried them personally!
here
or here
or this one

Seem to be mostly American quantities but might work if Lovingthesilverfox doesn't come up with the goods in the meantime!

Panic over!

The cake is made - and pretty lovely it looks too!

Obviously wont turn away any other vegan cake recipes - so feel free to post

Hi TooT

Hello EachPeach (are you on facebook?)

I know an excellent recipe for sticky chocolate sauce pudding.....

all credit to Isle of Wight Vegetarians and Vegans, the recipe appears in their fabulous More Meals Without Squeals booklet...

for the pudding:
3oz wholemreal SR flour
3oz white SR flour
1oz cocoa powder
3oz demerara sugar
1.5 tsp baking powder (I don't usually bother)
small pinch salt
3fl oz sunflower oil
6fl oz cold water

for the sauce:
3oz soft brown sugar (I actually use much lessthan this)
1 tbsp cocoa
4 tbsp hot water
(I sometimes add freshly squeezed orange juice to thesauce...it is divine)

Mix flours, cocoa, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Stir in oil andwater and mix thoroughly.
Put into greased tin (they recommend a pudding basin but I use a shallow, larger one).
To make the sauce, dissolve the brown sugar and cocoa in thewater and stir well.
Pour over pudding.
Cover loosely with foil - this keeps it moist and sticky.
They say to microwave it but I don't believe in microwaves, so bung it in the oven at gas mark 6/205c for 30-40 minutes.

This is great on a cold day, especially after a cold walk.

another one is on the bbc food website by giorgio locatelli. I made it for my egg-allergic daughter for her first birthday and it was great - not as chocolatey and rich as my fave cakes but perfectly acceptable.

www.chocolatetradingco.com/magazine.asp?section=38&id=82

turns out it had been removed from the bbc site but this recipe sounds the same

thaliablogs · 13/08/2009 21:45

oops did the link wrong

here

StirlingTheTired · 13/08/2009 23:37

I read an interview with Giorgio and he has a daughter with an egg allergy so he has to come up with ideas for her.
