Cause for supper my ds (aged 7) is having Nutella, on wholemeal bread with a glass of milk.

Is that really so bad?

I eat it by the jarful spoonful. It is fabulous. I wish I had some now.

Mintyy · 20/06/2009 19:25

It is not bad. It is edible, it is food, it tastes nice. Starving to death is bad. Going to bed hungry is bad. Food poisoning is quite bad. Nutella is neutral.

Juwesm · 20/06/2009 19:26

So, a 1 in my book!

Saltire · 20/06/2009 19:26

-5

NumptyMum · 20/06/2009 19:27

It's got nuts in it - surely that counts as protein... would you feel as guilty if it were peanut butter? (Not that I've compared the labels of each, I'm guessing peanut butter has more nuts than nutella...).

JJ · 20/06/2009 19:27

Better than the average peanut butter, I think.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 20/06/2009 19:28

Shocking. I'm amazed you can do tht to your child. Chocolate spread on wholemeal bread with milk? Good lord.

At 7 she should only be eating rice cakes and raw fruit.

(I'd give it a 5 though, since you ask)

cookielove · 20/06/2009 19:28

oooh use to make a great pudding for kids i babysat for, slice of bread spread with nutella, then covered in hundreds of thousands, mmmmmm yummy

NorbertDentressangle · 20/06/2009 19:31

I have to confess to having Nutella on white toast recently and it was very, very nice.

Nuts = protein
chocolate = milk = calcium

Positively good for you

MrsTittleMouse · 20/06/2009 19:37

Hm, the main ingredient is sugar.
But it is delicious.

broguemum · 20/06/2009 19:40

surely with all those hazel nuts and cocoa beans it counts as one if not two portions of fruit or veg?

onepieceofcremeegg · 20/06/2009 19:49

They also had a

Put some banana with it to make it healthier.
Mmmm banana and nutella toastie!

Tambajam · 20/06/2009 19:53

Sugar and oil are main ingredients but hey. It's not evil once in a while. My DS has it for breakfast.
Small amount of milk. Nuts get waved at it.

oodlesofpoodles · 20/06/2009 19:57

I would say 6. I make my own which is healthier (plus even more delicious).

Tambajam · 20/06/2009 19:58

Recipe please

Hassled · 20/06/2009 19:58

Not bad at all. Nuts are a valuable source of lots of good things, I'm sure of it.

MagNacarta · 20/06/2009 19:59

oodles - how?

fuzzywuzzy · 20/06/2009 20:01

Nutella is very good for you, as is all chocolate, it releases endorphins and is therefore a health food..... that is a scientific fact that I have just made up

HecatesTwopenceworth · 20/06/2009 20:01

once in a while - 1
every meal - 10

oodlesofpoodles · 20/06/2009 20:03

1 large darkish bar of chocolate-melted
1 biggish tin of condensed milk
lots of hazelnuts 3-400g -blended

stir together

eat.

And keep in the fridge if you are going to keep it longer than a couple of weeks.

I do have the proper quantities somewhere. I'll look later.

TubOfLardWithInferiorRange · 20/06/2009 22:27

I'd give it a 5. Peanut butter jar says less than 2% sugar-nutella jar says sugar is the main ingredient.

Lotster · 20/06/2009 22:41

As far as nutritiona goes it's crap, possible good for energy is all. But that's not why we eat it is it???
