The subject says it all really - can you cook rice in a microwave with no special equipment?

Yes you can cook rice in the microwave. I use a pyrex dish with a lid, cover the rice in water and cook for approx 10mins on high. I have powerful microwave so you may need to adjust time. I just taste a bit to make sure it doesn't crunch!

Good luck

thanks tibni - I will give it a go - I know it seems ridiculous but I dont cook much in mine apart from the occasional jacket potato and so am a bit clueless...

If you have a gas leak, not sure you should be using electricial appliances in the vicinity?

mascaraohara · 20/05/2009 18:38

you can steam rice if you have a steamer but agree is it ok to use electrical appliances?

giantkatestacks · 20/05/2009 18:41

Yes they have said it is ok - well they let me make them a cup of tea and are now out there digging up the road with a big drill so assume its all ok...
