Have tried making it with normal fruit juice, and it was too beardy weirdy for my liking.

yes, you can make it with pretty much anything

MadamAnt · 18/05/2009 19:42

But what's the best way to make it taste like cheap proper jelly?

I made a packet of vegetarian jelly recently and it tasted pretty much exactly like the normal stuff. Can't remember the brand name but it came in a sort of foil envelope and was lemon/lime flavoured. It didn't look as clear but otherwise was fine.

aha, I have just found a picture of the packet for a raspberry flavoured version of the same thing here

Ooooh! Thanks Takver!!

What is Agar jelly?

Isn't it the stuff you put in petri dishes?

Are you ttc?

thisisyesterday · 18/05/2009 20:21

ahh i see. erm, with fake flavours?? lol

it's the texture that gets me, it just isn't quite right.
but i think you might be onto something with the cordial scheme for flavour.

MadamAnt · 18/05/2009 20:21

hobbgobb - do you know what, I think it is! I hadn't put the two together til now!

I'm not ttc, but am preggers...what on earth is your train of thought!?

I don't know where I plucked the association from, but will be feeling proudly scientific if I am right!

The ttc question came, somewhat tangentially, from a fleeting vision of sperm meeting egg in a petri dish. Just me being weird, and might be because I had clotted cream on my mind at the same time, which has similar associations in my odd brain...

TIY - yeah...it's a bit too firm and unwobberly isn't it?

HG - you weirdy
