Does anyone buy from a local farm shop in the Reading/Berkshire area?

And would you recommended it to me?

After reading another thread where Hecate recommended buying from a local farm shop to save money on the weekly shop, I'm on the hunt for a good shop

Any ideas?

I would totally recommend Sheeplands/Hare Hatch. Not only is the food brilliant (as are the plants) but they are a local business

They're near Twyford

There's a very good farmers' market in Wokingham on the first Thursday of every month & some of the stallholders come in on Saturdays too.

Wellington farm shop, near the country park is excellent. It won't help you save money however.

Sorry, I've never been to the Reading one.

Hi - Reading Farmers market is very good - it is on every other week rather than monthly, which is a bonus. Go early, though, parking can be hard & stalls sell out quickly.

there's a market that runs in woodley shopping precinct (every sat). easy to get to, plenty of parking (3 car parks) and cheap farmer's veg and fruit. they also have other stalls with yummy cheeses (not cheap) and chutneys/pickles.

here

there is another farmer's market which runs 3rd weds of the month too.

harehatch, as spice monster says, is v good. yummy pies, very cheap.

Just googled and Readings farmers market should be on this weekend so I'll give that a try. Not sure how I'll carry a big bag of suds back to the car with a buggy though, DH is at work so hes no use to me! I'm sure I'lll work something out.
