Can anyone help me with ideas for a CHEAP barbeque for 20, including an assortment of vegetarians, muslims and pregnant women?

Can I do this without spending a fortune? Some people won't eat pork but I can still have sausages etc for others. I would like free range meat where possible. Oh, and I need to be able to order it on an online shop. Tesco or Waitrose.

And what should I get to drink? I'm assuming people will want beer and white wine, but shoud I get red too?

Friends can help out with salads and side dishes.

i know ruddy, i am just laughing at the thought of veggies (the leafy variety) on a barbeque.

Lol! My Sis-in-law did an all-veggie bbq once that really was fab. You could eat loads more without feeling stuffed. I think I may do quorn burgers though rather than vegetable skewers which require more work, somehow.

But I definitely want meat here!

Haven't read the whole thread so may be repeating but I'd do jacket potatos, shake and steak on steak but put the steak of a kebab stick with mushrooms so you don't spend a fortune on steak.

Veggie kebabs (red onion, pepper, mushroom, cherry toms)

Can you get 2 bbq's so one is meat and one veggie, you can have the jacket pots in foil on the veggie bbq then as well to save room on the meat bbq.

OK, meant socialising generally, not specifically outside, don't know why I said outside.

Having said that foxy, I got extremely pissed off last year when a couple we had invited for a bbq (along with several others) turned up 3 hours late and then were hacked off because there was no vegan food left. They hadn't told me they were vegan...
and while I always cater well for veggies regardless, I do think vegans coming for a bbq, might let you know in advance!

oh, oh, and she was gluten intolerant, apparently!

Needless to say, haven't seen themn since

Many Muslims would refuse to eat anything that's had pork on it.

Would do:

chicken legs marinated in bbq sauce (for variety you can try other marinades). Cook over indirect heat

courgettes, sliced lengthways, dipped in olive oil and salt

butterflied leg of lamb (cheap, from Sainsburys, probably Waitrose sells this cut too), covered in herbes de provence, garlic, rosemary, olive oil. Will need to be done in a bbq with a cover for about 45 minutes.

beefburgers (not my favourite, but lots of people like them)

jugs of elderflower cordial

salads:

potato salad

waldorf salad

rice salad

green salad

taboulé

For that lot I wouldn't bother barbequeing, I'd just have a salad bar

and tell them to bring a bottle.

Thank you! Butterflied leg of lamb would be great - feed lots of people with one piece of meat.
There's only 1 muslim guest, I've known her for years, and know that while she won't eat pork, she's really not hypersensitive about it. I just can't imagine a barbeque without sausages!

COurgettes and taboule are a great idea.
