If so, what method did you use?

Yes, I've made them in a low oven.
You have to keep checking them because if you leave them too long they become brittle which is not what you want.

Riven

did you use olive oil or herbs when you were cooking them Kathy?

Yes I think I drizzled them with olive oil and sprinkled them with dried herbs.

Katisha · 22/04/2009 19:20

I cut then in half, put in v low oven for several hours. Drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper and a little bit of sugar.
Then keep in olive oil in a jar.

Drizzle with oil etc before putting in oven?

Just like Katisha, except minus the sugar.

Though I reckon it's probably more eco-friendly (and cheaper) to just buy them as running the oven is not so cheap these days, is it?

Katisha · 23/04/2009 12:17

Yes drizzle before.
The sugar just brings the taste out - you don't have to use much.
I do this if I get a glut of cherry tomatoes in the garden - the oven is on the lowest poss setting so I don't think it's too extravagant.

if you cut them in half which way up do you put them in the oven

Kathyis6incheshigh · 23/04/2009 12:21

I did it with cherry toms once and they came out ridiculously tiny!
Wannabe - cut side up.

Katisha · 23/04/2009 16:48

Yes cut side up. Yes they do shrivel! But they taste fantasically intense.
