I've just made a chicken chasseur (yum) with a splash of white wine in it, and plan to serve up for us all at dinner. One of us is only 16 months old. Surely a splash of wine is ok if it's been cooked for over an hour? or am I being BAD?

I wouldn't do it but I was OTT with all mine but I am sure it would be okay as long as it isn't every day! [hic]

It's fine. The heating of wine, burns the alcohol off.

HeadFairy · 22/04/2009 17:07

Yeah I do it all the time. The alcohol evaporates so there won't be any left after cooking, but it'll taste yummy!

BecauseImWorthIt · 22/04/2009 17:07

Of course! All alcohol is quickly burned off by the heat, just leaving the flavour.

TrinityIsLovingHerLittleRhino · 22/04/2009 17:08

there is no alcohol left in the food
it is fine

Yes, I used to do it aso. The acohol content is burnt off,, leaving just the favour.

The ony child I don't give such food to is my friend's DD who isn't allowed any alcohol at all due to a medica condition.

Well, no point in worrying really, seeing as she just nibbled on a mushroom, sniffed a bit of chicken and then turned her nose up at it!
