Pizza stones - any use or pain in the neck?

Saw Jamie Oliver using one on Jamie At Home the other day to get a nice crisp base.

Does anyone use one and do they work? Or will it sit in the cupboard and not get used?

Does anyone have a particular brand they would recommend?

I have one. It doesn't look like the one on Jamie at Home though, it's round and not granite. Not this one but similar looking. It definitely makes a difference. I just have the one and do one pizza on it and one on a normal baking tray and the one done on the stone is always nicer. Reminds me that I have been planning to buy a second stone!

As to it sitting on the cupboard and not getting used, mine sits on top of the fridge and rarely gets used, but only because I rarely make pizza! I'm not organised enough to get the dough going in time.

I had a Pampered Chef one which was fab. Unfortunately it broke

Thanks Shortblack. I make pizza every few weeks - bread machine for the dough - so if it works I would get plenty of use out of it! Jamie's looked like it weighed a ton.

I have a Pampered chef one and it is fab - similar to the one ShortBlack linked to.

Really crispy pizza every time.

I'm gluten free, so have to make my own pizza - but DH uses the reverse side to heat up bought pizzas as he says it makes them better

Oh just buy a slab of granite from a stone merchants, far easier.
