Iron rich food for kids

My 6 year old has just started chemo, need suggestions for iron rich foods to keep her bloods up.
Have just been given a juicer.

I've just put a load of spinach leaves through the juicer....blardy Nora, it gobbled piles of them and spat out a smidge of juice!

How long is chemo scheduled to last?

Chickpea, dried apricot, egg yolk, game, green leafy vegetables, lentil, liver, molasses, read meat, wholegrains, sardines

There is a chapter on food for cancer (p128)

star food for cancer -
Alfaf sprout, Almond, apple, Apricot, Asparagus, beans, beansprout, Brazil nut, Broccoli, Brown rice, Brussel sprouts, Carrot, cauliflower, eveing primrose oil, Extra virgin oil, garlic, ginger, green tea, kale, lentils, lettuce, linseed and linseed oil, mango, pea, pulses, pumpkin seed, quinoa, salmon, sesame seed, shitake mushrooms, soya milk, sunflower seed, sweet potato, tofu, tomato, turmeric,

we used this book when ds 1 had glandular fever.

dried apricots
simmer in water until very soft, then pureed them.
Eat on own, or as a spread on toast, or with ice cream.
Or eat whole dried apricots (ready-to-eat versions like Crazy Jack might be easier for her)

6 months - well that's 6 months of you going through it as well. Having just watched my friends do a nine month stint with their one year old, please, please, please make sure you look after yourself as well. You must take breaks away when anyone offers help. Take time for yourself when you can and consider it an investment because this chemo malarky takes it out of you as well.

Got some dried apricots this morning so must try them,

she does eat weetabix so must look at the iron content in them

useful tip is that if you drink orange juice alongside iron rich foods the iron absorption is boosted (esp if it's iron from vegetable sources - iron from meat is easiest to digest)
red meat, pulse spinach, kale, dried fruit as everyone said. i think watercress also rich in iron and rocket if she doesnt like spinach (was advised to eat these in pregnancy). liver if she'll eat it.

Don't forget to be cautious what other foods you give with the iron rich ones - some foods make the iron easier and harder to absorb. ie dairy makes it harder, vitamin c makes it easier etc.
