Big chunk of too salty ham - any stew/soup/casserole ideas?

We baked a ham at the weekend for DS's birthday party. Unfortunately the ham is pretty salty - clearly it needed more than one night's soaking. So we have a big chunk of lovely ham in the fridge which is a bit too salty for sandwiches, but would probably be fine in something like a soup which needs some of the saltiness.

Any ideas?

If we have ham left over from a joint I make this Chicken and Ham Chowder - I usually roast a chicken breast and add that chopped up but I have also done it without the chicken.

Soup it, then when it's boiling stick a raw potato (cut in half) in for five minutes, it'll absorb some of the excess salt
