i'm doing tuna steaks for dinner tonight - is it safe to defrost in the microwave or should i run it under water or something? got it out the freezer about 2pm but it's meant to have 8-10 hours in the fridge (i bought it frozen) I am 36 weeks pg so want to make sure i'm not going to poisin myself! Thanks.

Stick them in a freezer bag then put them in a bowl of hot water - not boiled as that's too hot but just out of the tap. If they're not dfrosted an hour before you want to eat, refresh the water again. Should be fine. You'll have to cook your one through though if your pg, no rare tuna for you!

I would defrost mine in the microwave
I do defrost them in the microwave but I'm not 36 weeks pg

they will defrost quicker if you don't put them in the fridge

thanks. do you think it's dodgy then? i might end up with egg and chips!!

no, don't think it's dodgy, but you have to take more care, i always do mine well done, cos that's how i like them
never been ill yet

and i always defrost meat/fish in the microwave cos i am too lazy to take it out of the freezer
i defrost it, then cook it, after i get home from work

You can buy tuna steaks frozen that you cook straight from the freezer, so I would think that you could cook them without defrosting.
I have cooked tuna and salmon steaks only partly defrosted by wrapping in foil and cooking on a lower temp for longer.
As long as you check that they are cooked through to the centre, they should be fine.

Just read that you are 36 weeks pg, so don't take the risk if you are not happy with it, but my 3ds have survived!

ok, thanks all i think i'll risk it - i do quite fancy them!
