Oh no! I cooked my sourdough and didn't keep a bit of starter for the next loaf!

If you still have a board/spoon/anything around with a scrap on it you might be able to start from there (check under your fingernails!)

You haven't seen my fingernails.

At least the bread is cooked in a VERY hot oven after I (and dc's) have kneaded it!

(And can you seriously start from a scrap!?)

I am no expert and have never done it myself but seeing as how you can start your own starter using just rye flour, water and the lactobacillus that lives on your own hands I assume a bit of your original starter that is living on a spoon (or under your fingernails ) should speed up the process?
