The heading says it all really. I've tried making it a few times and it never tastes like the stuff I've had in Thailand or in restaurants. Can anyone help?

To make it taste authentic you need a lot of asian ingredients - including fish sauce tamarind juice, palm or coconut sugar, peanut oil, small dried shrimp & sweetened salted radish - if you can get all of these & include Tofu, prawns, egg, shallots, garlic, beansprouts & chilli with your noodles & garnish with fresh lime, corriander & chopped roasted (unsalted) peanuts it should be pretty good!

I can get all the ingredients (although the recipes I tried didn't have the radish in - I shall track some down) but I just seem to end up with a mush, so I'm obviously doing something wrong. I was told to undercook the noodles slightly before adding them, which helped a bit, but it's still not quite right. I wonder if it's in the timings for the other ingredients?
