So boyf has agreed to take packed lunches to work (he does a manual job and doesn't eat lunches so I've been nagging him)

I suggested, in my wisdom, "what about a nice chicken & bacon pasta salad?" which he said would be good.. how do I make a nice chicken & bacon pasta salad

But what else can I send him off with? I need inspiration.. I think hearty but healthy is the way to go if possible to have both.. he has a fantastic body which I (obviously) don't want to ruin

..Thanks..

the chicken and bacon pasta salad would for me be covered in wholegrain mustard and mayo, so not necessarily healthy, but lovely!

Cok pasta twirls and drain.

Cooked breast of chicken cut into pieces

Crispy bacon cut into pieces

tin of sweetcorn

mix all together, add few tablesppons of wholegrain mustard and enough mayo to mix it altogether nicely.

yumyumyum

Rice salad. Pitta bread with stuff in it. Home-made Cornish pasties are yummy as hell! Soup? DH used to work on building sites and often too salad.

cool thanks 2 questions..

with the C&B pasta - I was thinkin chicen, bacon, may etc but would I need to add some oil or anything to thin the mayo out abit or do you think it just normal mayo works? then salt & pepper etc

the home made cornish pasty sounds perfect.. do you have a recipe?

Thanks for all the ideas so far.. sounding great! keep them coming.

he has said he will take a salad but I'm not convinced he will actually eat it lol

For the pasta - chicken, bacon, a bit of mascarpone and pesto. Maybe some pine nuts and spinach leaves too.

roast veg and chicken couscous in pittas

chicken ceasar salad with huge homemade croutons

quinoa, grated beetroot and beef

spicy beef thai salad

Recipe? Err.... not really but I can make it up if you like

Shortcrust pastry (shop bought is fine).
Stewing beef, cut into thin pieces.
Potatoes, in small cubes.
Onion, finely chopped.
Swede, small cubes,
Pepper and salt.

Personally I'd prefer to cook the ingredients a little in a pan before putting it in the pastry. Keep everything well stirred and don't let it burn. Then cut the pastry into large circles, Put a line of the filling in the middle of each, pull the pastry up into the centre and crimp the edges together. Brush with beaten egg. Bake until the pastry goes golden.

Sorry I'm not good with recipes I just tend t see what works.

I dont usually add oil or anything. I do add some salt, but im not keen on pepper, so find the wholegrain mustard is enough. HTH
