Can I use Creme Fraiche instead of double cream?

I'm cooking a creamy sauce for dinner tonight which uses double cream, but stupidly forgot to buy it. I don't want to fight my way through Tesco's for a lousy tub of cream so can I use creme fraiche instead?

I would as long as you arent whipping it or anyhtin. I made a lovely white wine and mustard cream sauce for valentines and that was with creme fraiche

I can't get double cream to fill a Victoria Sponge , am thinking of mixing a little Creme Fraiche with some clotted cream .....does anyone think that will work as a substitute ?

Can get UHT cream but hate the taste.

personally I wouldn't use creme fraiche, I would just make do with the clotted cream spread around (and jam) - or even just a thick layer of jam!

Yes you can use creme fraiche but it won't taste as good as cream - yumm!
