DD is allergic to tomatoes - raw/cooked/baked bean sauce etc. Am so bored cooking cheesey everything - fish in cheese sauce, pasta with cheese sauce etc. Does anyone have any good ideas for some different flavours/sauces. We've been told by GP she may be ok with tomatoes if we give them a break for 6mths but am fed up waiting.
Tried stir fry with ginger/garlic/soy sauce last night and it didn't go down well. Any help please? She's 1 by the way.

I sometimes make a bolognese type sauce without tomatoes so it's mince kidney beans, butter beans, peppers, aubergine, onion and beef stock.

You can serve it with pasta or make a cottage pie.

Also an easy carbonara is courgette, cream, pancetta and egg yolks.

I have a bit of an aversion to tinned tomatoes. Somebody on here suggested roasting red peppers and blending them to make a sauce.

Dhal might be good if you make it mild.

When DS couldn't eat tomatoes I made bolognaise sauce and substituted beetrot and grated carrot for the tomato. You have to blend the beetroot (vaccuum packed cooked stuff not fresh or pickled).

I have put the recipe on here if you can be bothered signing up.

You can also make lasagne with it.

When my dd was allergic to tomatoes I used to make a bolognese type sauce, just like thedevilwearsprimark but also add a teaspoon of paprika. It doesn't add any heat but gives it a reddish colour and a nice flavour.

Would she go for a very mild Thai curry? The sauce is mostly coconut milk, with a small amount of curry paste.

At that age my DC ate lot of roast dinner type food - borning meat veg and gravy - all home made though, they wouldn't eat tomatoes at all. Will she eat pesto? I think a variety of home made food is best. She may become intolerant of cheese if you give her too much....!!

Fish with parsley sauce, fish pie, corned beef hash (I do top mine with grated cheese, but it is a bit different from cheese sauce), chicken in bbq sauce with rice and sweetcorn, shepherds pie, chicken and bacon casserole, beef casserole.

she may prefer this....Mix grated ginger, soy, fish sauce, white wine, coriander, tsp sugar, chilli, garlic, lime juice - sir fry fish/veggies/chicken etc and have with noodles/rice

Pesto

Coconut milk based sauces...

Ok so now have new shopping list to take to supermarket for some different recipes - thanks very much. Am going to try Thai first as we love it but never thought of introducing it to the DC at her age.

You could try this range - some of them are a bit gross, but some better than nothing:

PS - DS2 was allergic to tomato (& a host of other things but is fine with everything now and has been since 3)
