Does any one have a recipe for a tomato sauce with hidden vegetables in?
My toddler loves tomato sauces but cant get him to eat veg. so I thought there must be someone out there who has a way of getting veg into a sauce without the lumps and so he just thinks its a tomato sauce. Any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

Just make a tomato sauce with loads of veg in in (peppers, mushrooms, courgette, aubergine, carrot etc) and liquidize it. Job done.

Second the idea of loads of veg and liquidize. I also put lentils or chickpeas.

I use a fab Jamie recipe - onions, red peppers, courgettes, carrots, squash - fry onion then bung in all rest chopped (he says grated, but who wants to grate vegetables!)and boil / simmer for quite a while. Add quite a few tins of plum tomatoes, plus tomato puree, oregano, salt and pepper. Leave it all cooking up till veg are soft enough to liquidise. It is really nice, just like a tomato sauce, and you can also add to mince for hidden veg mince.

I put in loads - soften some onions, garlic, sometimes leeks, peppers, add a tin or two of chopped tomatoes, and then 3 or four carrots, and add the same volume of tomatoes in vegetable stock. Simmer till carrots are cooked then liquidise. I make huge vats at a time and freeze individual portions for fussy eating DS2.

Try adding some chopped sinach and a spoon of pesto, don't cook it too long afterwards or you will lose the goodness of the spinach. DD loves this - it is the one thing she will always eat

Try adding an apple in for a touch of sweetness. My DDs wouldn't touch any hidden veg sauce like these and someone suggested this and it worked a treat.

Whilst it's not ideal maybe keep green veg out of it a bit because that can make a slight bitter taste, and even without them you'd still get loads of excellent stuff into him!

Yeah I think i'll keep green veg out for now cos he has gone off brocoli which is fairly bitter. but he should like it with pesto and peppers and mushrooms.

I do Annabel Carmel's hidden veg sauce. Same as ohters have suggested but she uses passata rahter than tinned toms. Makes sauce smoother which is good for ds as he's funny about bits.
