Can I take the defrosted chicken out of the pasta sauce and freeze the sauce?

I am making a sauce for my dc's for dinner

Basic onion, tomatoes , chicken to go with pasta.

I have defrosted some chicken and cooked it, its simmering in the tomato pan.

But there is too much sauce for the dc's and dh and I are eating something else later.

Would the extra sauce be ok to freeze when all the chicken is removed (and eaten)?

Thanks.

yes

chicken was raw frozen, then defrosted and cooked in the sauce?

yes, would be ok to freeze (as would any chicken left in the sauce)

why don't you just leave the chicken in the sauce, it will be fine to freeze

Yes. So the chicken could be left in?

I remember that being ok, now you have mentioned it

Because its being refrozen in a different state to how it was frozen before.

Thanks
I am so hungry and it smells so yummy. Not enough for both dh and I, just one more portion, or 2 dc sized portions.

yep, chicken fine to be left in.

it is all about the altered state thing, so you've cooked the chicken, and is therefore fine to be re-frozen (once)
