Posted this in chat earlier but probably should have put it here.

T'was my birthday 2 weeks ago but I had to cancel (after a disappointing 'big' birthday last year as my Dad had just died) and so DH decided to treat me and we had...

Canapes:

Homemade parmesan shortbread,
Olives
Smoked Salmon and caviar on rye bread
Mixed nuts

Pre Starter:

Beetroot jelly with horse- radish foam

Starter:

Roast Scallops with confit belly pork and pumpkin puree

Soup:

Lentil and Perigord Truffle

Main:

Ducking breast with potato and pistachio Mousseline, praline vinaigrette and foie gras

Pre dessert:

Vanilla and chocolate mousse

Dessert:

Caramelised cinnamon brioche with banana and passion-fruit sorbet.

WOW

Just to quantify, I have NEVER eaten like this before and probably never will again. I just wanted to share

Wow indeed, sounds delish
Where did you go?
Did you have to take out a second mortgage to pay for all that lovely food? Sounds very posh

shootfromthehip · 08/02/2009 18:07

It's a place in Scotland called The Roman Camp and it was....... £44 per head!!! (The wine was hideously expensive but I thought that was amazing for the quality of food)

I have driven past that a few times and wondered what it was like.

Sounds fantastic

ScummyMummy · 08/02/2009 19:15

Sounds amazing. I love hearing about delicious food!

moondog · 08/02/2009 19:15

Sounds fab.
Are you able to move yet?

shootfromthehip · 08/02/2009 19:18

If I'm honest gave DH the pre dessert and the actual dessert as I was stuffed. It was indeed fabulous food. My DD is at nursery with the chef's son and apparently they are getting married so at least I know the catering's sorted!

yummmmmmm! I think I'd have to try the beetroot jelly with horseradish cream though - sounds a bit .. er .. different!!
