Not too rich vanilla ice cream recipe?

Every time I make vanilla ice cream it is insanely rich and sweet. I appreciate that it's likely to be a bit richer than shop bought as it's not full of crap bulker-outers, but I can only manage about a tablespoonful of the stuff I am making!

Has anyone got a recipe that isn't too rich? I guess it's something to do with the custard mix, but not sure how to improve it.

a custard mix that uses less cream (or none at all) will be lighter eg this one that uses cornflour

alternatively if you are happy with raw egg folding in a whisked egg white or two before freezing will make it airier and less intense

No concerns about raw egg - I eat far too much cake mix to start worrying about that! Sounds like a brilliant tip - my ice cream is always much too solid and intense.
