How much?! Im sure they are only about 60p arent they?!

stealthsquiggle · 05/02/2009 11:21

Who took the mick, Ruby ?

Cucumber is a staple food in this house - DS and DD will eat one between them at a sitting. Waitrose had none at any price and farm shop had tiny ones for £1.20. It is now rationed (or DS can eat gherkins instead ) Did you ever find an explanation?

GrinnyPig · 05/02/2009 11:23

LOL - can't say I'd have thought to start a thread on the subject, but I did notice this last week when doing my online shop and didn't order one at £1.20something. I buy them for my Guinea Pigs - they may have to go for therapy soon if the price doesn't come down.

staryeyed · 05/02/2009 11:34

Oh I was going to start this thread but thought I might sound like a bit of an old lady but the price is ridiculous. They were £.99 the week before last and I thought that was bad but now £1.20 I wont buy them at that price. Is there a world shortage or something?

Wallace · 05/02/2009 11:40

Could it be seasonal?

Tee2072 · 05/02/2009 16:20

OMG Tesco online has them for £1.28!! What am I going to do, I always have cucumber in my lunch at work!!

That's just ridiculous.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/02/2009 16:27

Blimey - I didn't even look at the price when I did my online shop . Not that they are optional here either.

Have asked mil to buy and prep 5 for dd's party on Sat, so hope that she doesn't notice/mind how much they are .

They are between 1.20 and 1.80 round here too. Bloody stupid. I saw half a one for 99p the other day.

bobblehat · 05/02/2009 17:01

I bourght one from the market the other day and the man serving me apologised for the price and said he had never known them so expensive. He blamed the strong euro - they came from Spain.

DaisyMooSteiner · 05/02/2009 17:11

Roll on the summer when I will be able to get them straight from the greenhouse!

Hulababy · 05/02/2009 17:12

Is this why I am not getting any in my salad box perhaps? DD keeps asking where the cucumber is.

Coldtits · 05/02/2009 17:13

I know - they were £1.39 in Tescos. I ppromptly put it back.

tootiredtothink · 05/02/2009 17:13

£1.28 today in Sainsbury - and they're getting smaller

cupcakesinthesnow · 06/02/2009 22:35

£1.45 for an extra large in Sainsburys today. The trolley boy had to bring me round with smelling salts.
