does anyone have a breadmaker and actually use it?

I am so fed up of shop bought bread, and its so expensive, especially if you buy anything which actually tastes of anything, that I am tempted to buy a breadmaker.

The thing is, I suspect its one of those things that you buy, use for a month and then goes in the cupboard for ever.

  1. does anyone actually have a breadmaker?
  2. is it any good?
  3. Do you use it?
  4. Does it save you any money?
  5. Which one do you have and would you recommend it?

I'm a batch cooker at heart too but the breadmaker is so easy and quick to do from the POV of the amount of input I have to put into it, that it's just as easy to put it on when I need bread.

Sachertorte, that's why I stopped making anything other than the smallest sized loaf. The larger loaves were only taller so didn't really give you any more bread as you still got the same number of slices. The smallest size is a much more nicely proportioned loaf.

I have been so convinced by this thread. And then I looked at the bank balance: NO breadmaker this month for us! But hopefully I will be able to get one soon.

Could you ask on freethingy website if anyone has one that is clutering up there cuboards?

I am sure there are people that have a breadmachine and don't use them (odd people about )So may want to actually off load the thing and you could get to try for free!

I haven't been able to use mine for the past week or so and I miss it.

ITs a real shame, thanks theburnsifiedeffect.

I tried on freecycle, but apparently everyone who has one is busy using it!
