is what my children had for breakfast this morning.

Fortunately they're young enough to still be accepting of what I put in front of them. They don't know their slattern of a mother didn't manage to wash the pan and spoon out quite well enough after pasta supper last night.

Actually... it wasn't bad. The oil in the bottom of the pan meant it fried golden. It was a sort of savory breakfast pattie. Like a corn pattie or a potato cake. Honest.

The Scottish tradition was to fill a drawer with porridge, let it set and then cut out slices to use day after day. Apparently.
Another story goes that a student lived on porridge in this way for a term and developed scurvy.
Your porridge sounds quite tasty.

Ds has slices of porridge rather than a bowl of the stuff. He's 9 months old and BLW.
