georgina

is it your ds/dd who is at Funshine? (hope that makes sense and I've got the right person!)

GeorginaA · 05/04/2005 22:20

My ds1 used to go to Funshine in Croydon before we moved to Worcester, yes. Really rated it at the time, but that was 2 years ago so don't know what it's like now - although I think the lady who ds1 used to worship has left now, unfortunately

GeorginaA · 05/04/2005 22:20

And I'm impressed

Used to love the fact I'd pick him up and they'd say "today was jelly play" and I'm thinking, wtf?! I'd never consider letting my kid play in a big bowl of jelly - but he'd have an ACE time! AND they were one of the few nurseries that would let you do only one day a week.

snafu · 05/04/2005 22:22

Ah, right. It's just that I've got to start investigating childcare in Croydon and have heard good things about Funshine. I'm going to try and get down to see it in the next couple of weeks. You'd recommend it as far as your experience went, though?

snafu · 05/04/2005 22:23

LOL @ jelly play - ds would be in heaven!

GeorginaA · 05/04/2005 22:26

Oh absolutely. The owner is lovely - you get the feeling she's there because she loves babies. Whereas some of them I went to look around were dire - babies crying and not being picked up, manager having so long nails that there was no way she picked up a child EVER.

I walked into Funshine really tired and fed up - convinced I wouldn't find somewhere for ds1 to go and they folded up the pushchair for me, noticed that his nose was running before I did and wiped it for him, helped him play with the current set of toys out while I chatted to the owner... was a really nice vibe. When he was almost 2 years old I did feel they probably could have stretched him a bit more, tbh... but he was still very very happy there.

They used to absolutely excel at messy and arty sort of play, which was perfect for me because I LOATHE getting messy and have no imagination for art activities.

Fab - thank you - it's so nice to get a personal view. The whole childcare thing is a bit daunting.

Sorry for hijack, debs!

GeorginaA · 05/04/2005 22:35

Ooops, yes sorry debs ... pssst.... Karmel, you know it's for the best

Snafu if you want to CAT me about any more detail you're very welcome to
