right, am standing her in kitchen with my slow cooker and a leg of lamb (which doesn't look like it will fit but I'll deal with that in a moment)

how do you do yours?!?

Just putting a watch on this thread. I did a joint of beef in mine last week but it cooked it so tenderly it was almost impossible to cut.

Lamb would be much more appropriate. How's your little Lexie dizzie? Mine is a monkey. Isn't it funny how they suit the name???

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 22/01/2009 10:42

It's PJ by the way, I've name changed...

dizzydixies · 22/01/2009 10:48

mine is hanging off my trouser legs saying 'I've missed you mummy' in the hope of getting a sodding biscuit - she's not daft this one

agree completely re the name

can't fit sodding leg into stupid sodding slow cooker and I don't have anything that will trim the bone so off to the oven it goes and I'll have to do it now as I have to go to shops later on

wonder if I can just chuck the temp down really low and still cook it slowly?!?

will let you know if I poison us all [meep]

Oh lord, I'll have to see whether I can find something suitably small in the shops later. It'll be lovely, I'm sure, however you cook it.

I don't s'pose this will be of much help to you, but what I do is this.

I use a shoulder (or half shoulder) of lamb. Brown it in oven quickly first, then bung in slow-cooker with a can of red-wine sauce sloshed all over it. Leave all day.

Bung some veg on.

Ta-daa!!!!!!!

Easy-peasy and very scrummy too.

shall buy a shoulder next time, have no idea what happened, I think I came over all Nigella in Tesco and bought above my skills

yes Dizzy if you cook it covered in the oven - 2 layers of foil. high heat for 30 mins the down to about 140 for aslong as you like. keep checking the liquid or it will go dry.

lamb, rub with what you fancy
1 cup wine/stock
cover and cook!
simple just like me
