Does anyone make their own muesli? Do you have a recipe?

DH and I were thinking it might be cheaper to make our own and our local health food shop sells all kinds of flakes and things. Plus we can add all the stuff we like. But it might be good to have a recipe as a starting point. Anyone?

Thanks

I don't really have a recipe but do the following:

As a "base":
Jumbo oats
sunflower seeds
sultanas

then add either:
flaked almonds & dried cranberries
or
cashew nuts & chopped dried apricots

I would estimate I do about 6 parts of oats to 1 part each of everything else but you should experiment to see what you like. I prefer to keep it simple and not add too many ingredients.

Enjoy!

I do! I mix together the flakes, nuts and seeds, and bake it in the oven for about 20 mins at 180, stirring every 5 mins so it all gets toasted - much better flavour. I sometimes add a teaspoon of cinnamon too. When it's cooled I stir in whatever dried fruit I want to add

Like cyan, but add bran, wheatgerm, oatbran, any nuts, pumpkin seeds, poppy seeds sesame seeds, chopped up figs and apricots. Do a huge tub of it and lasts for ages.

I will start toasting my seeds i think beforehand though.

I drizzle the oats with honey and sunflower oil, bake them in the oven, then add the fruit, nuts and seeds. DDs refuse to eat "dry muesli" but will eat the toasted Jordans-style muesli, so I had to experiment to get the correct crunchiness. Not sure the oil and honey is actally adding to the healthiness aspect of it , but make me feel all lentil-weavery, especially when it's referred to as "Mummy's muesli" and served with "Mummy's yoghurt"
