I think I possibly need to move on from ginger cake and banana bread, fabulous as I am at making them. Also, I suspect DP would quite like some savoury snacks in his lunch box.

So what can I make? Quite like the idea of iced cinnamon swirl buns if anyone knows how to make them, but cannot live on these forever.

I made houmous (sp?) once, which was nice with carrot sticks, but I can't find the recipe...

Anyway, what do you lovely lot make for snacks? I need inspiration! And recipes.

nice dip, quantities can be variable:

Blend a smoked mackerel or two with a small (or large, up to you) pot of cottage cheese. Add a squeeze of lemon, salt and pepper. Yum.

Not home made, but have you discovered roasted marcona almonds? They are yum (but the non-roasred ones aren't half as good). Also those Munchy Seeds are v more-ish.

Cinnamon swirl buns - Check out the comments when you page down as they have other options for fillings.

Cheese scones/straws
sausage rolls - mmmmm
apple slices with peanut butter to dip/spread

hummus & raw veg and / or breadsticks (lengthy thread on here from last week with many recipes & tips)

homemade popcorn (buy the bags of unpopped corn, and pop a handful of it in a lidded bowl in the microwave. The dcs will eat it just as is, but you could sprinkle cinnamon sugar on, or my DH's favourite is a mixture of salt & smoked paprika).

lengths of celery, fill the channel with cream cheese or peanut butter, then roll in sesame seeds so it sticks to the filling (no, my kids won't eat them either but I like the idea!)

flapjacks, especially with Julian Graves Omega 3 seed mix in them.

Thanks for the ideas!

Loving the popcorn - could solve our healthy snack dilemma...

ps shall i tell you a secret - you can buy readymade houmus in the supermarket. It is very tasty, cheap and far less hassle than faffing about soaking and boiling chick peas, finding tahini and making a mountain of washing up by using the blender!

Don't ruin it for me light, I read that whole other thread and I will make houmus and it will be marvellous and I will be fabulously domestic. Ahem.
