Need LOTS of ideas for red cabbage! And cauliflower, if you fancy...

Organic box came today with 2 red cabbages in. Also have half an enormous one in the fridge! What the hell can I do with it? Happy to do something and then freeze it in batches to have as a side dish, but really lacking in inspiration!

And while we're on the subject, I also have 2 cauliflowers, and would like to make something other than cauliflower cheese (which I love, but I am theoretically on a diet).

Any ideas?!

Oh - lovely Vietnamese style red cabbage and chicken/turkey salad in Nigella's Feast. Let me see if I can google it.

Here - it's lovely

This is closer to the original

What about Delia

I've got loads of tiny portions in the freezer, and have one with (some) dinners.

No one else in house will eat red cabbage, hence tiny portions.

Last weekend I cooked Nigella's Ham in Cherry Coke, and then served it with red cabbage which has been cooked int he left over liquid - the red cabbage was fantastic

Made a really nice cauliflower puree to go with scallops and pancetta the other night.

Cauliflower soup?

Put either ingredient into the bbc food website: www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/advanced_search.shtml

Or search on recipes section of this site (though red cabbage ones all look salady):

Cauliflower is good in curry.

Ooh, thank you for all the ideas! They all look yummy. Will have a day of cooking tomorrow if I can palm DS off to my mum...

Wobblypig did you just cook the cauliflower and blend it?

You can make a nice simple sauce for pasta with cauliflower - just boil it then chop it up small and mix with (lots of) olive oil and some breadcrumbs you have fried in olive oil with garlic. It's great, much better than it sounds.

They did a fab looking cauliflower soup on Market Kitchen the other day here

We had red cabbage for dinner, with cottage pie. Hot pan, olive oil, throw in the shredded cabbage with salt, pepper, and some sugar. When it starts to soften, slosh in some red wine (a couple of glasses for half a cabbage), lid on the pan, and leave on a very low heat for a few hours.
