Dumplings in slow cooker - have I made a school boy error?

Casserole has been in all afternoon.
Dumplings have been in now for nearly an hour and a half sat on top of casserole. Not looking too good though.
Has anyone tried this?
Thanks muchly! (Mind you, I am soooo hungry at the moment, I'd eat raw dumplings!)

They will be fine. Quite possibly didn't need that long but dumplings are hard to mess up, ime.

Thanks NAB ... you've reassured me!

I think they'll be ok, god I love dumplings. I made suet free ones last time and they were better than suet ones by miles.

Got the recipe off t'internet.

Wish I had stew and dumplings for tea. Sob. We've got Pizza and soup.

We are not allowed to eat until I have next weeks meals planned out, it's the law ... I am lacking inspiration by a very long and painful mile.

they normally need to go on top of something that';s bubbling away, for about 20 minutes.

so, i wouldn't get my hopes up! lol might not be hot enough for them

dumplings were fine and very nice (although not crispy on top, but cooked).
BUT beef stew wasn't cooked (part of that was due to me not realising if you increase cooking time mid-cooking, you have to press start again, or it turns off

Sorry few days late but to get crispy dumplings on top I find I do have to place my slow cooker in the oven to cook the dumplings. Replace the lid with some foil, else you'll find you have a slow cooker minus a lid knob
