Do I fry chilled meatballs before adding them to the pasta sauce, or cook them in the sauce?

Haven't made meatballs in pasta sauce before, do you fry them before adding to the sauce, or cook them in the sauce in a saucepan? or is there another way? Thanks.

We had meatballs and pasta for lunch today. DH made them and fried them first, before adding to the sauce and then the spaghetti.

i'd fry them first too.

I would always flash fry them first, in hot oil, to seal the outside - not to cook them through.

If you do the hot fry first they (a) don't fall apart in the sauce (b) have that lovely browned carbony nutty yum edge ((b) almost more important to me than (a)).

They then cook through in the sauce.
