Something to serve alongside clementine cake? A nice winter fruit compote recipe maybe?

Am considering Nigel Slater's winter strawberries and oranges to keep things simple, but a nice spiced compote would be festive and warming - recipes gratefully received - and I'm very open to other ideas - ?

It's for 8 people, after a roast (lamb probably).

I have a slow cooker but it's a 6.5l one - think it needs to be at least half full so that would be a lot of compote

Thanks puzzle - I made the cake then remembered half our guests have nut allergies

So took cake to SIL's house yesterday (where it was much appreciated) and am now doing Nigella's stem ginger gingerbread, her spiced plums, and Barbados cream.

However, answers to the original post would still be appreciated for future occasions!
