Bearing in mind- I have been pg, bfing, or ttc for past 4 years or so, and therefore teetotal

We have:
A bottle of Grenadine (1/2 left)
bottle of Sake (1/2 left)
Liqueur de Framboise (1/2 left)
Bottle of Absolut (1/2 left)
Bottle of Absolut Vanilla (1/2 left)
Bottle of Cinzano Bianco (4/5 left)
Choya plum wine (1/4)
Choya plum liqueur unopened bottle
bottle of Pimms No1 unopened
Bottle of Pimms No1 with a little left
a Half bottle of Bacardi- unopened
Bottle of Kahlua (1/2 left) but this was purchased in last 12 mo by DH
Captain Morgan rum (!) (7/8 left)
Tequila (1/4 bottle left)
brandy (1/10 left, but I use in cooking so will keep)
2 bottles of cava unopened
a 2006 Chardonnay
a 2006 Valpolicella
a 2004 Vins de pays de Gascogne (this is probably completely rank!)

Malt whiskys:
Scapa 14 yr
Glenfiddich 12 yr
Ledaig
Islay Malt 10 yr
Aberlour 12 yr
Talisker special 15 yr
Ardbeg special- Uigeadal
Old Pulteney 12 yr
Bowmore 15 yr

Organic ale and organic cider both bought in last 6 months.

I assume the malt whisky will all be fine (plus some are much more recent, as DH often gets for birthday/christmas etc) but what about the rest?

Oh my, can I come and visit?

Lizzylou · 23/12/2008 15:26

OK, OK, I will come round and help you "get rid" of your extremely impressive booze cabinet!

I have no idea what would be OK, sorry. I think I would just make like a teenager and keep sipping them until I passed out!

santasinmywaistband · 23/12/2008 15:27

I wouldn't have a clue nothing lasts long in this house

LadyOfWaffle · 23/12/2008 15:28

After some research I am afraid it will all need to be disposed of, I shall sent you my address the details of an alcohol disposal place.

Chuck the Pimms, had some that was opened 12m and it was odd.

AMIStletoekiss · 23/12/2008 15:29

I reckon anythign with the strength of spirits or liqueurs is pretty much safe - it just pickes any germs that come near at that strength!

Not sure about sake, Chinzano, Pimms, plum wine... if they're open and not very alcoholic they could have gone funny.

Unopened wine is probably still ok, though the 2004 may be better for a casserole, it wn't be improving with age!

pinkteddy · 23/12/2008 15:30

Vodka should be OK. Any opened liquers, I would say dodgy. Has the wine been kept flat? (ie: not upright). If so should be OK. Wine usually has a keep guide on the label.

Anything sparkling should normally be drunk within 6 months but if its been kept flat it might be OK. Just a case of trying it. You will know as soon as you try to open as it will be flat! Happy trying!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 23/12/2008 15:32

The Sake probably won't be any good.

EachPeachPearMum · 23/12/2008 15:33

LoWand Lizzy- if you were close enough to collect- you would be welcome to some! (am still pg... and will hopefully be bfing a while)

OP posts:
EachPeachPearMum · 23/12/2008 15:36

am about the framboise though- I love that stuff!

OP posts:
EachPeachPearMum · 23/12/2008 15:37

Oh -LoW- will the unopened pimms be odd too do you think?

OP posts:
EachPeachPearMum · 23/12/2008 15:39

pinkteddy- unfortunately has all been upright... I think the cavas should go.
I don't like it anyway- not a patch on real champagne!

You can drink alcohol while bf, at least once your baby is big enough that you can predict when they'll sleep for a while. You just need to wait 2-3 hours after drinking and no need to pump and dump .

That's an impressive collection. We had chinzano for years when I was a child and my granny used to drink a glass each Christmas. She never complained it had gone off .

EachPeachPearMum · 23/12/2008 19:33

Well- I had a fun session pouring stuff away and the recycling bin looks more like neighbours' now

Grendel- I realise you can drink when bf... but I choose not to- you can't always predict when they will demand a feed, even when they're a bit bigger (or maybe that was just my dd?). I never drive when I have had a drink either- even just a snifter- I am only very small, and as far as I am concerned... it's a bigger percentage in someone my size!

OP posts:
Grendle · 23/12/2008 22:42

OK, sorry, just thought I'd mention it in case you didn't know . These days I find it quite easy to predict when my 16 month and 3,5 yr olds will breastfeed so have been able to enjoy a glass of wine .

I would never drive after drinking either.

Tinker · 23/12/2008 22:48

What about the Kahlua? We got some last xmas in a fit of 'we shoudl buy some festive drinks' and had just one drink of it.

EachPeachPearMum · 23/12/2008 23:05

I think the Kahlua will be fine- it's quite strong. DH like white russians, so our kahlua is actually quite a recent purchase.

OP posts:
EachPeachPearMum · 23/12/2008 23:13

Anyone know how long unopened Pimms would keep?

OP posts:
TinselianAstra · 23/12/2008 23:15

Mmm, white russians are loooovely.

This might sound silly, but do any of the bottles have best-before dates or similar on them?

cornsilk · 23/12/2008 23:17

Pimms should have a date on the bottle somewhere.

cornsilk · 23/12/2008 23:18

I've got unopened Baileys from last xmas and it's in date till mid 2009, so Pimms would probably last longer I would think.

EachPeachPearMum · 23/12/2008 23:22

TA- unfortunately no! All the ones that did have been tipped away, as they were over.
I can't find a date anywhere on the pimms cornsilk.

OP posts:
leoleomakingalist · 23/12/2008 23:22

what about advocat (SP?) opened last christmas

TinselianAstra · 23/12/2008 23:24

I'm surprised that Baileys doesn't say 'drink within X of opening', as it's only 17% and creamy. Anything at 40% can't possibly have anything growing in it.

It's probably more down ot whether things are past their best than them being 'off' and bad. So the only answer is to try them!

TisTheSeasonToBeSolo · 23/12/2008 23:28

I wouldn't throw any of it out! , I'd drink it all ~ but not in one session of course

Merry Christmas!

EachPeachPearMum · 23/12/2008 23:28

eek- leoleo- wouldn't touch the advocaat no matter how fresh it was
