just 'cos one cookbook says gas 8, another gas 5... i did them last year but can't remember what temp!

and if it is gas 8, how do i cook the rest of the meal? (nut roast needs gas 5, parsnips...?)

hotter than the oil can get. goose fat has the highest evaporation rate i heard on nigella

Stinkyfeet · 21/12/2008 20:18

I do them at 7. Can't advise on nut roast I'm afraid!

Whatever the meat has to be done at, and then when meat is done I turn it up to 220c.

ChasingSquirrels · 21/12/2008 20:19

i do everything on 195, which isn't much help.
my mum used to do everything on 7 when she had a gas oven.

I have never used goose fat. Always pre boil the spuds and shake them before putting into fat for roasting.

asicsgirl · 21/12/2008 20:28

oh yes i always do the shaking thing
