by "buns" do you mean little cakes? If so, then just use basic Victoria sandwich cake recipe and spoon into cases (e.g. 4oz marg, creamed with 4oz sugar, gradually beat in 2 eggs, fold in 4oz SR flour - or just do an all in one mix) To ring the changes, add dried fruit, coconut, or replace a tbsp of flour with cocoa. Spoon into cases, cook 15 - 20 mins.
Toppings - mix icing sugar and fruit juice for a change. Or use melted chocolate

you can use butter instead. Am sure it's nicer actually, but I usually use marg just cos I always have it in.
