I live in the same town as him so I can get it locally (I haven't yet). I think you can get it in Waitrose and Selfridges though.

ChestnutsRoastingonanOpenFlier · 17/12/2008 21:26

not yet available in scotland, basically, then

Oh and it was going for lots of money on ebay after the first showing of his series!

IlanaK · 17/12/2008 21:31

I get it from Waitrose. And Ocado online. And Selfridges. Not sure where else has it.

shortcircuit · 17/12/2008 21:32

I saw it in Waitrose today - it's about £7-8

ChestnutsRoastingonanOpenFlier · 17/12/2008 21:33

what is it actually called? He just mentioned sainsburys on tv but can't see it online

IlanaK · 17/12/2008 21:35

Its called Venezualan Black. And it only costs £5.99, not £8.

bluebump · 17/12/2008 21:36

This shows the range of them I think. This programme has reminded me I wanted to buy some too, it's about 6 quid a go though, and will probably have sold out from our health food shop now knowing my luck again!

ChestnutsRoastingonanOpenFlier · 17/12/2008 21:39

yay! thank you very much!!! I found this when googling "venezualan black" stockists and there are actually 2 stockists in Inverness! Am in shock

OP posts:
bluebump · 17/12/2008 21:43

I'm in shock that there are so many stockists too! He must be doing well then!

janeite · 17/12/2008 21:49

What do you all use it for? My friend had some last Christmas and used it for sprinkling on a mousse: I thought it was quite bitter tasting but maybe that's because it was just in its "raw" state.

Nigellapleasecomdinewithme · 18/12/2008 09:40

It is pure cacoa so has no sugar in it at all! There are recipes on the website how to make truffles etc an the Channel 4 website for the series too.

georgiemum · 18/12/2008 09:46

He mjst have a website (in this day and age).

Funny man, funny family. Those kids are going to rebel and refuse to each any chocolate when they hit their teenage years. "No daddy, I am not eating that chocolate, I'm having a carrot so there!"

effingnora · 18/12/2008 10:04

You can get it in Darts' Farm shop in Topsham. That may not be very helpful to anyone outside Devon though.

MilaMae · 18/12/2008 13:03

Am I the only one that found that show very fake-we had no snow in Devon last year and as for the heart in the snow-barf!!!!!!!!

poshwellies · 18/12/2008 13:15

I wanted to know that milamae as I live about 25-30 miles away from Tiverton and I don't recall having snow (ok,a slight smattering) for at least 3 yrs..

I was damn sure it was fake! poncey tw*ts!

slug · 18/12/2008 13:27

Thank You!!!! I spent the whole hour irritating DH by pointing out all the fake bits. Many of the car shots were obviously done with a green screen. It drove me bananas!

georgiemum · 18/12/2008 13:32

We were yelling 'why do those trees have leaves?', 'why are the kids wearing winter clothes and he's in a t-shirt', 'where did all that snow come from???'.

and if that's how those 2 speak to each other in front of the camera (quite confrontational and argumentative I thought), it's bets on that one of them will be in the pit next year!

bluebump · 18/12/2008 16:03

I live in Tiverton and we did not have any snow. Fact!!

stressedsanta · 18/12/2008 18:02

I've finally bought some today, the one with a citrus hint as they had that one or a fruity one left in the health food store. I looked online for some recipies and his website isn't up and running yet! Pah!

ChestnutsRoastingonanOpenFlier · 21/12/2008 09:20

try the channel4 website, I think there were some recipes from the series on there.
I'm hopefully buying some tomorrow.

My DP pointed that out last night but thanks. I made a hot chocolate this afternoon (very adventurous start), you need a LOT of sugar I thought. My teeth hurt now!

BONKERZ · 21/12/2008 18:10

i like watching this just to see if i know anyone! I lived in tiverton for 6 years up to 2003 and have family there still!
