If I want to turn my rich choc cake into a black forest...is this what I need?

black cherries in syrup in a tin

Would you just put a drizzle of syrup on the warm sponge - then a layer of cherries then a layer of cream then teh top deck of cake and then decorate the top with more cherries and cream?

Could I decorate it the night before our will it go soggy?

And what cream should I use? - whipping cream? Should I add sugar to the cream?

Whipping yes.Could do woth a bit of sugar.Also the cherries need some alcohol in them-Kirsch ideally ,owt else if stuck.
I'd decorate just before serving.
