I'm embarassed to admit I've never cooked meatballs, how do I do it?

I have some lovely looking beef meatballs in the fridge. I was planning in doing them in a home made bolognese type sauce with pasta. But how do I cook them? I have visions of them all sticking to the pot and basically turning back to mince.

Do I have to brown them or should I just make the sauce and allow the balls to simmer in the sauce until they're cooked?

TIA

I cook mine in the oven with the sauce covering them in a casserole dish.About 180C. For about 40mins.

grill or cook in oven first like you would a burger
or you can fry in a little oil
then when browned nd cooked through (check with knife) add to sauce

If you make a big tomatoey sauce, you can just drop them in the saucepan into the sauce and let them simmer away for 20 mins - no need to cook them first and they WON'T disintegrate, honest!

I use a mini muffin tin and bake them in the oven. This way you don't have to use them all at once; handy to have a few in the freezer for the kids.

I cook mine in the oven on a cookie sheet at 350 F for 30 minutes. Like shubiedoo I freeze them and microwave them later as needed.

I always brown them off first in a saute pan and then add the sauce around them and leave to simmer for about 30 mins. If they are lean beef, you will probably need a touch of oil or they will stick to the pan; sometimes they have enough fat in them that they can be dry-fried.
