My quiche/flan has turned out 'gritty'what have I done wrong?? Any cooking experts out there?!

Made a flan today using bought pastry, put in it eggs, cream, spinach (cooked) salt and pepper. It tastes lovely but it has a really gritty horrible texture, I just cannt understand what i have done wrong, its bad enough to not want to eat it! All utensils etc were clean etc 9I always check) so am mystified, but maybe I have made a simple mistake as i dont normally make flans etc.

Anyone who can help me solve the mystery I would be grateful!!

did you whisk or beat the egg mixture?

it's the spinach! spinach is very gritty sometimes unless you really wash it well.

Hi Toys I only beat the mixture rather lazily I might add, but interseting about the spinach, it was out of a bag from tescos
and I didnt wash it- must be that!!
