Enid, how important is the salt in your nuggets? can i just use pepper? dh is on lo-salt diet when he comes out of hospital (another reason for cooking properly)

Enid · 20/03/2005 21:31

and if you must know, I rarely buy chicken pieces - much cheaper to buy a whole chicken and use various bits for different things then use the carcass for soup

Enid · 20/03/2005 21:32

I didn't put any salt or pepper in this time - still yummy

Enid - do you use a food peocessor or mincer to do your meat? Still haven't bought a mincer and the pulse function on my processor is broken so it pulps it too much.

Glad you buy the whole chicken - was getting a bit worried!

Enid · 20/03/2005 21:39

I use a magimix on pulse

Wish we had one locally Cod. It would be great to choose the cut and have it minced in front of you (no yucky bits that way).

Enid · 20/03/2005 21:43

get your processor mended! then you can choose the cut you like - I don't buy mince ever

I made Jamie's very veggie sauce the other day, it actually made more than the recipe said - 500ml for current meal (forget what that was now) then 4-5 more x 500ml, and 800ml left over. (Froze in plastic bags, easier to accommodate in freezer than boxes.) Had to rope family in for grating as did it in a hurry, would have taken hours alone!

NB With giant saucepan and handheld blender, kitchen does not resemble murder scene

JanH · 20/03/2005 21:47

NB have used it 3 times now in place of basic toms, in:

  1. whatever first thing was
  2. spag bol
  3. lasagne

Excellent, and comforting knowledge!

Enid - I'm holding out for a new one and may well get a Magimix this time.

Enid · 20/03/2005 21:50

I was given the magimix as a present when dh and I moved to Dorset 6 years ago - I must use it at least once a day and it is still going strong

MumOnaMission · 07/04/2005 20:59

Will any food processor do for mincing?

MumOnaMission · 07/04/2005 21:00

I mean mincing meat, not walking around with a limp wrist.

Reading this all with great interest & can't wait to try the chicken nuggets. Going back to Cod's recipe, what exactly are capers? Have seen them in a few recipes and often wondered.

Macaroni cheese topped with tomatoes and more cheese. Then put under a grill to brown.
