Creamy tomato sauce - can I use single cream?

I want to make a creamy tomato sauce but all I have is single cream. I read that there is a risk of single cream splitting? Should I give it a go? Would it help if I warmed the cream?

I think it doesn't matter, as they can both split'. As long as you watch the temp as your cooking it shouldn't split. Don't let it boil, just a gentle simmer.
