"chocolates for chocolholics" - anyone ever used this company?

a brochure came with a magazine last week, the chocolates look good and pretty reasonable (especially the stocking filler type things) Seems you can order through a distributor even if you don't have a party. Has anyone ever used them? If so, what other chocolate would you compare their quality of chocolate to? website here

Yes, school use them, and I introduced it to preschool last year. I can only speak from my own experience - which was that I handed the catalogues out, took the orders, rang it through, had to wait in all day for the order as they wouldn't specify a time - to find that most of the stuff I'd ordered was out of stock. I ended up refunding the majority of the orders, and preschool made the princely sum of £12.00. Not worth it, IME.

haven't used them, would probably go for something I know is good quality than risk it.

I've had their chocolates before but only ever through somebody having a party. The chocs themselves are fine and I have got some of their stocking filler bits for the dc's this year.

lilolilmanchester · 25/11/2008 21:55

thanks all. Not intending having a party, just thought their stocking filler type stuff looked very reasonable and quite novel. Then thought that perhaps the chocolate was rubbish. Agree with thisisyesterday, wouldn't risk it - hence hoping people on here had sampled!

Just had a good read through their website, they do not mention the quality of the chocolate, ie percentage of cocoa etc so that would lead me to think it is no a very good choc.

They are talking too much of the parties etc than going into details of the product.

I would not be tempted, and would rather by a hunk of willys wonky chocolate, or a good swiss or belgian one.

that's exactly what I thought bollockbrain (fantastic name by the way!) Shame tho cos the products look really nice. That said, I was very disappointed with the quality of hotel chocolat's chocolate, tho think I'm in a minority.

I've used chocoholics before and they were fine.

Chocolates are nice and packaged well.

Never been a problem. They are very popular in our area.

Friendlypizzaeater · 25/11/2008 22:04

Had them before (I don't like Choc) but DH/DS loved them ....

lilolilmanchester · 25/11/2008 22:11

thanks - I really like the look of them but they are so reasonable, was wondering if they were such awful chocolate that I'd regret it (am not a chocolate snob, but don't like "plastic" chocolate)

Just seen this, sorry for responding to an "oldish" post.

Have used this company for a few years, mainly as the wife of one of our Scout Exec is a consultant/distributor. Every Christmas I order "stocking fillers" and some chocs for hanging on the tree. Personally I like the chocolate and find it very nice and doesn't have that awful "plastic" taste you talk of, I know what you mean! Have sampled some of the bigger boxes and found them nice too, makes a change to getting the usual Thorntons boxes.

Have just recieved my order for this year, Little gift packed penguin (who looks very cheeky), some lollies and some of the Ralph Reindders and Peter penguin to top up DD's advent calender. Have sampled a penguin and very nice too!

biscuits, many thanks. The chocolates looked too nice but reasonable to be true, so was fully prepared to here it was fatty plastic chocolate. Love the stocking fillers. Will see if I can find a local distributor.
