Love cook books and do not own any of the Celbrity chefs books but think I would dearly love one of Nigellas books. Would love some suggestions on which one of hers is the best to buy...I love experimenting (and eating) and love cooking from scratch. Or can any body recommend a good cook book...many thanks in advance

I love How to eat. But I read it as a bedtime book, not a cook book!

MissisBoot · 20/11/2008 16:16

I use Feast quite a lot

Yes, How To Eat is the most wide ranging and versatile. I love Domestic Goddess for cakes and puddings too, but think that HTE would be more what you're looking for.

MrsM I love reading cook books in bed too and think that is because only time I get a chance to read and take it in. Do you not miss the pictures? (think this is the book with no pics is that right?)

Will do a tally of the votes and choose from your recommendations. Thanks everyone so far

If you're looking for a wide range of recipes, then either How to Eat (very readable) or Feast (readable, great ideas, stunning pics). But Domestic Goddess is one of my all-time favourite, most-used books, so if you're just looking for a damn good book, that gets my vote

mrsmaidamess · 20/11/2008 16:37

Yes tis the one with no pics. But as I've only ever cooked one thing from it, no, I havent missed the pictures!

cositjustisok · 20/11/2008 20:26

Thanks everybody so far....outcome looks like first place is "How to eat" and then "Feast".
I do prefer to cook savoury foods and as i have coeliac disease I find I can adapt them easier if I need to rather than adapting puddings, so does this change anything???. Would like puddings in the book as hubby and kids still indulge but would prefer more savoury.

Please keep chipping in if anybody else can advise....other wise I am so bad at making decisions..i will buy none or all them!!..and really cant afford that {grin]

How to eat is fantastic. But I've never bought anything of hers and been disappointed, love her recipes and her writing. I've tried probably about a hundred of her recipes and never a dud so jump right into the world of Nigella!
