is there any way I can take the heat out of a sauce ? I appear to have gone a bit wild with the chilli flakes.

I was hoping 20mo DD would be able to share our dinner of meatballs and spaghetti tonight, but the sauce is too fiery. What can I do?

yes - some kind of dairy addition

creme fraiche

Sugar, lemon juice, yogurt (one of the above, not all of them )

Those chilli flakes are lethal

I hve ruined many a dish with them!

Bramshott · 18/11/2008 13:24

You are supposed to boil them up with a whole potato in I think, and then take the potato out (apparetnly it takes out the chilli).

thanks all!

potato idea is intriguing, but none in the house. we have a tub of creme fraiche lurking somewhere, so I will try that.

(Or we could just chuck some gruel at DD and scoff all of the meatballs ourselves.)
