anyone remember the coleslaw recipe from Jamie at home?

from what I can remember he make a really tasty looking coleslaw - have a craving for coleslaw on a jacket pot

p.s I don't live in the UK so sadly can't buy it ready made......

2 carrot - peeled.
1 bulb fennel - trimmed

at least 2 of the following.

3-4 raddishes
1 beetroot - peeled
1 turnip - peeled
1/2 small celeriac peeled

400g red/white cabbage - outer leaves removed
1/2 red onion peeled
1 shallot - peeled
1 lemon

extra virgin olive oil
hanfull fresh soft herbs (mint/fennel/dill/parsely/chervil) - chopped

250ml natural yoghurt
2tbsp mustard

Salt and pepper to season.

1.Shred all veg and put into mixing bowl.

  1. In a seperate bowl mix half lemon juice, glug of olive oil, herbs, mustard and yoghurt. Mix well and pour on veg season to taste.

Oh that sounds lovely!

Homemade coleslaw is ten times nicer than ready made anyway imo.

I love home-made coleslaw, it is particularly good with red cabbage. shop bought has too much mayo imo.

if you make sure you dry all the veg beforehand, it will last longer, otherwise it ends up soggy and not very nice.

its great with beetroot looks wild!
i do loads of variations of this in the winter its great!

shop stuff is just gloop imo

There's a fantastic recipe for Asian coleslaw on the Riverford website (www.riverford.co.uk) We ate it when we visited their Devon farm and field kitchen.

We do a variation, which is:

Sliced cabbage (any will do even Savoy)
Grated carrott
Lots of fresh coriander
Mayo
Cashews, quickly fried in chilli oil

Just throw it all together, it's the only way I like coleslaw
