Sushi -- where can you buy ingredients in West London / Surrey?

I love sushi but only ever eat it at a restaurant. So,I'm thinking of embarking on a new culinary talent. But, where do I start? I can get rice and seaweed sheets at Tesco, but not much else.

Thanks!

Or even an online/delivery recommendation would be much appreciated.

waitrose seem to have a bit more of a selection than tesco plus they have a really good fish counter

If you are close to Ealing then there are bound to be some Japanese shops somewhere as it has a sizable Japanese population. Not sure of any myself, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were.

If you're in Kingston/Norbiton area there is an excellent Japanese shop called Atari-Ya just down from Norbiton station. They are very helpful and have a wonderful fish counter (they also make up sushi for takeaway while you're practising!)

Do they do other stuff too, or just the fish. You know, lik emiso soup paste, drie seaweed, etc.

New Malden has an array of asian 'supermarkets' which I am pretty certain stock a mix of chinese/japanese/korean items.

Waitrose have the lot.

I make sushi with the seaweed wraps and sushi rice and just put in

Avocado and crab
lobster and cucumber
salmon and cucumber
red pepper and avocado
cooked trout and salad stuff
cooked prawns and avocado
cooked chicken and avocado or rocket leaves/watercress

and serve with pickled ginger (tesco/waitrose) and wasabi.

Thanks, everyone. I'm going to try Waitrose and the Atari-Ya shop.

I think I'll shy away from raw fish for now. Might do some cooked fish or maybe just some veggie handrolls.
