I am always stuck for imagination when it comes to cooking and needs some help with the above. I would like to make a couple of dishes but don't want to do nugget type food as want kids to eat what we all eat. Any ideas welcome.

I always without fail do a sausage casserole if I have more than 4 adults/4 children to feed! Nearly all kids seem to like sausages. And I serve with crusty bread (if I'm feeling lazy) or baked potatoes, and salad for the grownups.

what sort of stuff do you like cooking?
Roasts are always great and can be stretched as necessary.
Lemon chicken with rice is good too!
Risotto - yum?
lasagne is also a firm favourite of ours.
Oh now I'm feeling hungry and wish we had some decent ingredients in the cupboard - beans on toast is just not going to do it for me today!!!
Good luck, hope it goes well!

If I'm feeding a crowd of adults and children my standbys are:

baked potatoes, sausages, cauliflower cheese, some more boring vege for fussies who won't eat cauliflower cheese / crumble and icecream to follow

lasagne, salad, garlic bread / icecream and black coffee over it for adults; icecream and maltesers for children

soup, crusty bread, a cheese board, grapes etc / chocolate cake

chilli, rice, guacamole etc / icecream and fruit salad and/or chocolate cake

Fajitas!
Big massive stir fry and a pile of warmed tortillas and sour cream /salsa/ guacamole etc and plonk it all in the middle of the table and everyone helps themselves.

'Bits' - baked pots / sausages / grated cheese / sliced ham / cherry tomatoes etc etc and crusty bread on the table and everyone helps themselves +/- vat of soup on the stove for people to have if they want it too.

Shepherd's Pie
Bolognaise
Sausage casserole
lasagne
