Olive loving babies

I've come across a couple of toddlers who seem to adore olives - very strange, as loads of adults don't. Then had one of my own (baby, not olive) and he loves them too, has eaten them from 9 months though I wouldn't say he's a particularly good eater. Anyone found similar? Maybe they're so salt deprived they have to get their salt satisfaction from olives...(which obviously don't count as salty and unhealthy as they're such a middle class poncy snack )

The first solid food ds ate was marinated olives - grabbed them off teh table while we were having lunch.

It was the quietest meal out that we had had for ages, so we ordered several bowls. His nappy was a little strange afterwards mind.

Well, loads of olive loving babies out there! I think it's a bit strange - neither me or dh are crazy for them, definitely had to work quite hard to like them. Stick by my theory that it's the salt he likes! I did give him a cracker once without thinking (one of those lovely ones with the crystallised salt on the outside) and he stuffed it down. All he needs now is the beer to wash down all those salty snacks - I'll have the glass of rioja.

My DD loves olives, hummus, pesto and anything garlicky.
I wouldn't have even entertained the idea of these foods as a child.

My mum says she's noticed that children tend to like food that's popular at the time they are born...I suppose olives and hummus are 'fashionable' foods ATM.

My brother doesn't like chipshop chips (he prefered microwave or oven chips). My dad always said it was because he was a product of the 1980's....
