Creamy bacon pasta: will it taste weird with creme fraiche instead of normal double cream?

I am cooking for a friend tonight, told her what I am cooking (pasta, bacon, onion, pepper, cream) and she has said can it be creme fraiche instead of normal cream. I don't know why she wants this and can't ring her. Will it taste odd? Am happy to do hers in a sep pan if nec.

THanks hanaflower, I also think it is weird.

Maybe she is on a diet? FWIW I always use half fat creme fraiche in pasta - it tastes different to double cream, but is definitely not weird.

Just thought maybe not with bacon, waynetta?

I always use half fat creme fraiche and it's delicious. I prefer it as find regular cream too rich. I don't know about calories, but I do know that it is less rich - if I had pasta with cream, I have an upset stomach after but pasta with creme fraiche is fine.

Blinglovin · 11/11/2008 12:08

oh dear. Bling was inappropriately late to the party! Sorry.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 11/11/2008 16:31

well ours was delicious! had chicken bacon brocolli and garlic. DH said: I'd have that again!

lilolilmanchester · 11/11/2008 17:15

Late to the party too but I use creme fraiche a lot now for sauces. I have a friend who can't tolerate a lot of dairy, so cream is out but is ok with creme fraiche. Perhaps that's the reason?

Well that's my tea sorted!!!!
