how do u make homemade chicken nuggets and potatoe cakes

have just made fishcakes with a tin of salmon potatoes and parsley all mashed together then dipped in egg and breadcrumbs can u make chicken nuggets and can u make potatoe cakes also do u have to use breadcrubs with fishcakes or can u just cook them

I would use breadcrumbs with fishcakes.

Chicken nuggets - what I do is chop up chicken breasts - biggish chunks, dip into egg mixed with some crushed garlic, then dip pieces into breadcrumbs. Have a frying pan ready with some oil in - and shallow fry until cooked - will not take very long at all.

Not sure about the potato cakes (although I have made them) but would need to look through recipe book to refresh my memory.

Evening babujj, good luck for your scan thing tomorrow...

I make this all the time for dd. Nuggets as above.

Pototes, you can do normal boiled then mashed pots but much quicker to put one med size potatoe in micro wave 4 mins either side. Let cool slightly, peel (dd then eats a bit of the skin as I do) mash with some butter splash of milk and grated cheese. Make into golf balls then flatten.

Use peas/small carrots/sweetcorn etc to make eyes, nose, mouth etc. 12 mins in oven 200 on greaseproof paper. You can freeze the potatoe before cooking, but put paper between each piece or you will never get them apart again!

thanks carrie will try the chicken nuggets this week then potatoe cakes thanks bout the scan am now going to just drink 500ml b4 i leave house then have a scan if they say anything they say anything i can't be bothered getting stressed out lol

When I do chicken I get chicken breast (or small fillets) bash them until flat,
cut into strips
coat in flour, then egg
then brown breadcrumbs mixed with grated parmesan and chopped parsley.
I make a pile and freeze ready to use whenever.
Because I bash them flat, dc call it chicken bang bang!
They are very tasty - even dh loves them!

ok thanks will have to try won't put cheese in them tho cos i am not spoed to have much cheese says the cheese addict

I role the chicken in the flour egg and breadcrumbs but then I place on an oiled baking tray and cook in the oven for 25 minutes gas 5.

If you want them to have a different flavour you can add chinese 5 spice to the bread crumbs or a little garlic salt to the flour.

You can do the same with fish, get fillets of fish pollock is cheap and make fish nuggets or fingers and freez the same.

We add a small dollop of mustard to the beaten egg mixture when making chicken nuggets. Gives them a bit of a kick
